I am honored to be a part of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine, where I have the privilege of working alongside some of the most skilled and dedicated professionals in the field. My journey in medicine has taken me through rigorous training at leading institutions, where I developed a passion for cardiothoracic surgery and a commitment to advancing patient care. Working at Weill Cornell is especially meaningful to me, as this institution embodies the excellence and patient-centered care that I strive to deliver every day.
I am dedicated to providing the highest level of care, performing complex surgeries and offering support to patients and their families. At Weill Cornell, I am fortunate to be part of a team that excels in handling the most challenging cases, day or night, with unwavering precision and care.
My focus is not only on achieving the best possible outcomes through advanced surgical techniques but also on ensuring that each patient feels supported and understood throughout their treatment journey. Dr. Eilon Ram is a cardiac surgeon in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Ram earned his medical degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed both his residency and fellowship in cardiac surgery at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. He further specialized in cardiothoracic surgery through a fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine, with advanced training focused on aortic surgery. This training has equipped Dr. Ram with the expertise to manage complex cardiac cases, particularly those involving the aorta.
In addition to his specialization in aortic surgery, Dr. Ram has a broad range of expertise across various aspects of cardiac surgery. His experience includes coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve repair and replacement, surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation (MAZE), cardiac tumor resections, and the management of aortic aneurysms and dissections. He is also skilled in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, offering patients advanced surgical options with reduced recovery times.
Dr. Ram is deeply committed to patient care and medical education. He has played a significant role in training the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons, mentoring medical students and residents. His extensive research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Ram is married to Shahar, and together they have three children: Nafti, Yuli, and Dori.
Dr. Eilon Ram has been recognized with numerous honors and awards for his contributions to cardiothoracic surgery. He has been the recipient of the prestigious Ami Cohen Award three times, for the best study in cardiac surgery in Israel, and has received multiple Best Publication Awards for outstanding annual publications as a cardiothoracic resident. In 2019, Dr. Ram was awarded the Ian Kellerman Young Investigator Award, as well as the Outstanding Investigator and Outstanding Clinical Research Awards from the Leviev Cardiothoracic and Vascular Center. He also earned the Sapphire Foundation Award for outstanding physician in 2020. Dr. Ram's teaching excellence was acknowledged with the Prize for Outstanding Teacher at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. In 2020, he was selected for the prestigious Talpiot Medical Leadership Program at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, where he continues to contribute to the field.
