Personal Statement

For as long as I can remember, I was on the path to becoming a doctor who specialized in women’s health. My passion has always been to care for and empower women who are going through difficult times. Gynecologic oncology is the perfect field for me because I get to form strong relationships with patients and their families throughout the course of treatment. My aim is to treat every patient as an individual and each of my patients receives personalized evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Biographical Info

Dr. Deanna Gerber is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Gerber earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine / New York-Presbyterian, where she served as the Chief Resident. She subsequently completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at New York University Langone Medical Center.

Dr. Gerber’s practice encompasses the surgical and medical management of the broad spectrum of gynecologic malignancies including uterine, ovary, cervix, vulva, and vagina. She is extensively trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques using traditional laparoscopy, as well as robotic platforms, for gynecologic cancer and complex benign conditions. She also treats women who have been diagnosed with a genetic mutation that increases their risk of gynecologic cancer. To help reduce this risk, she offers preventive treatments and risk-reducing surgery.

Dr. Gerber understands that a cancer diagnosis can lead to fear and confusion. She aims to alleviate these concerns and pay close attention to each woman’s unique medical, social, and psychosocial needs. Though her goal is to optimize care and eliminate cancer, she strongly believes in maintaining a good quality of life while doing so. She is passionate about cancer survivorship and the complexity of care required from time of diagnosis to years after treatment.
