Personal Statement

Caring for trauma and burn patients is an experience that started for me many years before medical school. A close family member experienced terrible physical trauma, requiring months of ICU care, surgeries, physical rehabilitation, and general care. Six years before medical school, I gave up a different career to be ever present for them. Day and night, weekends and holidays for almost two years, I did what felt right. Over the next decade and a half, I dedicated my life to my true calling - developing as a physician, surgeon, researcher, and teacher with the aspiration that I become like the doctors who cared for my family member during their time of need. I enjoy the satisfaction of providing care with less pain, more comfort, and greater reassurance that our patients are in good hands. I am committed to advancing care and providing the best treatment within my scope, treating my patients with the care that I would hope for my own family.
