About Christopher Chandler, MD
As a transplant surgeon, I have devoted my life to treating patients with end stage organ failure. Often as a result of chronic medical disease these patients are experiencing different degrees of renal, pancreatic, or liver failure. They are often unable to work, frequently hospitalized, and dependent on medical therapies such as hemodialysis in order to stabilize their bodily functions. Through the gift of a lifesaving organ donation from a stranger, friend, or family member, I have the ability to transplant that organ into these patients and reverse their organ failure. For those with renal failure, they start making urine and come off dialysis freeing up hours of their time, for those in pancreatic failure, transplant can reverse their diabetes freeing them from insulin injections, and preserve their sight, limbs, and decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and organ dysfunction, and for those with liver failure, transplant can restore life and vitality to these patients and allow them to live longer healthier lives away from the hospital. Seeing the joy and impact that a transplant brings to my patients is a rewarding experience and an incredible journey that I am proud to be a part of.
