Personal Statement

I am passionate about social determinants of mental health and the related impact of community outreach interventions and education. My clinical and community experience in treating a medically indigent population have motivated me to become a child psychiatrist who can change perceptions of the nature of mental health and improve outcomes for children, their families, and the larger community, as well medical trainees and other healthcare professionals. I have been volunteering for and working with other mental health professionals to provide guidance on how trauma can impact youth in all developmental stages. I am a strong believer in medical education, mentorship and advocacy, and their role in prevention and early intervention for mental health issues in youth. I love that the Weill Cornell Medicine community program encourages members to work on their own lifelong learning paths and nurture their passion in this area with strong support.
