Primary care is sometimes referred to as “adult internal medicine” or “family medicine.” Your primary care physician (often called “PCP”) is your first point of contact for healthcare. During your routine visits, your doctor evaluates your health, monitors for signs of any illness and coordinates care with specialists as needed.
