Her academic and clinical interests include breast cancer, gynecological cancers, lymphomas, gastrointestinal malignancies, brachytherapy and general Radiation Oncology. She is the principal investigator for several IRB approved research studies in breast and uterine cancers. Her current research focuses on both the very young and on geriatric breast cancer patients with respect to their disease presentations, new molecular and biological aspects, and their treatment outcomes. Her recent translational research work regarding treatment outcomes and prognostic implications for basal and non- basal like triple negative breast cancer in younger women was presented in 2009 at the 51st annual ASTRO meeting in Chicago. In 2011 at the 53rd annual ASTRO meeting, her work regarding outcomes in younger women following postmastectomy radiation and the implication of receptor negative status, non- caucasian ethnicity and younger age was presented in the oral session. Her work on long term follow-up with partial breast irradiation treatment using the MammoSite catheter was also presented at this meeting.
Dr. Ravi is keen on exploring new ways to improve her patients' quality of life, and is a proponent of complimentary therapies that may expedite recovery and enhance wellness. She is the principal investigator of a study that evaluates the efficacy of supplementary Reiki therapy for breast cancer patients during Radiation therapy.
Dr. Ravi has presented in several national and international meetings and has published in journals as well. She is a peer reviewer of several cancer journals. She is a member of several medical and oncological societies including: the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Brachytherapy Society, American Association of Women Radiologists, and the American Radium Society.
