About Ahsan Uddin, M.D.
I am dually trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics with further sub specialization in Pediatric Endocrinology. My breadth of training experience allows me to focus on the care of young adults including those who need to transition their care from a pediatric to an adult provider. My special interest is in metabolic health including diabetes mellitus and obesity/overweight, where I believe a highly personalized approach to care is needed for patients accounting for their unique biological and social circumstances. I am also passionate about research and currently work on improving our understanding of pancreatic beta cell biology with the ultimate goal of developing better cell therapies that can provide a cure for insulin-deficient diabetes mellitus.
Dr Ahsan Uddin is an attending physician providing care to patients in the Division of Endocrinology with an additional appointment in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He holds the title of Instructor in Medicine and Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr Uddin is dually certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Pediatrics since 2021. He also maintains membership in the Endocrine Society and Pediatric Endocrine Society.
Dr Uddin attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he completed his Bachelor in Science degree with a focus on Cellular and Molecular Biology. He then attended St. George's University School of Medicine from where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at William Beaumont Medical Center (now Corewell Health) in Michigan. During his residency he served as Chief Resident and received an award for Exceptional Performance. Dr Uddin pursued his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medicine after which he was recruited as a physician scientist in the Division of Endocrinology.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Uddin works in the Rafii Laboratory in the Division of Regenerative Medicine on pancreatic beta cell technologies to improve understanding of diabetes mellitus and other metabolic conditions.
