Personal Statement

Transfusion medicine and Celular therapy are unique pathology subspecialties that integrate in various disciplines of medicine by providing both diagnostic and treatment supports to patients. Committed to provide safest and most effective transfusion treatments to our patients, I have strong passion to practice evidence-based medicine and to provide professional consultations to our NYP/WCMC primary clinicians. As a Weill Cornell Medical College faculty involved in directing both laboratories, I look forward to contributing to ground-breaking research and improving patient care in my serving community.

Dr. Hsu received both MD and PhD (in Immunology) degrees from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2010. He completed the Clinical Pathology residency program at Washington University School of Medicine in 2013 and the Transfusion Medicine Fellowship program at UCSF Medical Center/Blood Centers of the Pacific in 2014. Dr. Hsu joined the Weill Cornell Medical College faculty as an Assistant Professor in July of 2014 and serves as an Assistant Director of the Transfusion Medicine and Cellular Therapy Laboratory.

Dr. Hsu has a strong research interest in the manufacturing of novel bood and cellular therapy products and their impact on human health. He also receives funding to develop novel diagnostic platforms to evaluate the qualities in various types of stem cells used clinically. Dr. Hsu will soon be directing a Cornell cGMP Cellular Therapy manufacturing facility to support future cutting-edge clinical trials in the areas of regenerative medicine and cancer treatment.
