Poonam Awatramani, M.D., is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at Payne Whitney Westchester of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She currently works fulltime in the Evaluation Center and Psychotic Disorders Unit of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

She is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has an interest in Psychotic disorders in the Geriatric Population. Dr. Awatramani received her medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas and trained at Louisiana State University Shreveport, where she served as Chief Resident of Education as a third year resident and Administrative Chief Resident as a Fourth year. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center, Cornell University. Dr. Awatramani also remains active in teaching medical students, psychiatry residents and geriatric psychiatry fellows. She is an active participant in both the American Psychiatric Association
