Personal Statement
Pierre F. Saldinger, MD, MHA, FACS is a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is also Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.
Dr. Saldinger is an expert in the surgical treatment of cancer and benign disorders of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and stomach. A frequent lecturer and well-published surgeon, he speaks both nationally and internationally on surgery of the pancreas, bile duct and liver, and surgical quality improvement.
Dr. Saldinger is a member of many esteemed societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Society of University Surgeons, and sits on the editorial board for the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Through the American College of Surgeons’ Military Health Systems Strategic Partnership, Dr. Saldinger acts as an advisor on quality initiatives for the United States Armed Forces.
Dr. Saldinger earned his medical degree from University of Basel School of Medicine in Switzerland as well as a masters in health administration from the Mailman school of public health – Columbia university. He completed his residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He then pursued his clinical fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
