Personal Statement

It is a privilege to have joined the Pulmonary and Critical Care Faculty after completing my fellowship training here at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Critical care is my true passion. I enjoy the challenge of stabilizing crisis situations, participating in some of the most complicated diagnostic challenges, and the constant interaction with a wide array of other clinicians. We are continually reviewing literature and expanding our scope of practice both medical and procedure wise. We focus heavily on physiology to guide fluid resuscitation, shock management, and mechanical ventilation. However, our goal is not only to provide excellent and state of the art critical care to our patients, but also to impart practical knowledge to our trainees. Education is at the forefront of our priorities in the Intensive Care Unit, and our goal is that our housestaff and fellows will come away from the experience not only learning critical care, but learning how to be better physicians in the broader sense. In the Intensive Care Unit, we focus on the importance of team work and team dynamics. We have an impressive team composed of pulmonary and critical care fellows, Medical and ER housestaff, medical students, critical care nurses and respiratory technicians. In addition we discuss patient care daily with our nutritionist, social worker and our PhD critical care pharmacologist. There is nothing more thrilling than working alongside such a dedicated and intelligent team that we have assembled here at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
