Daniel MacGowan MD, MRCPI is a 1989 honors medical graduate of University College Dublin, Ireland. He then completed a three-year internal medicine residency, graduating as a Member of The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He completed his neurology residency at New York Hospital Cornell University Medical Center, as Chief Resident, in 1995.  His post residency fellowships include Stroke at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and Electromyography/Neuromuscular Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. 

He has been in clinical practice since 1997, specializing in neuromuscular disorders. As Director of The ALS Association Care Center at Mount Sinai Beth Israel for 20 years, he has treated and supported hundreds of patients with this disease. Dr. MacGowan has published widely on the topics of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis and Peripheral Neuropathy. Listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in America since 2014, he is excited to continue his mission of providing excellent care and treatment to patients with nerve and muscle disease at Cornell.
