Subroto Paul, MD, MPH

Thoracic Surgery
Subroto Paul

The patient is the focus of attention at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical College. A diagnosis of lung cancer or other thoracic malignancy can be overwhelming. The variety and complexity of surgical and medical treatment options can be equally confusing.  As a surgeon that is part of a multi-disciplinary team, I strive to carefully explain all diagnostic and therapeutic options available. In that way, the patient gets involved in their own care and helps ensure that they receive the most advanced care possible in New York City.

Dr. Subroto Paul is an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and an Attending Surgeon in the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Health Policy and Research.

Dr. Paul received his undergraduate education from Yale University. He then earned his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School. He subsequently stayed in Boston to complete both his general and thoracic surgery residencies at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. He has also completed a Master of Public Health from Columbia Univeristy.

Dr. Paul has received many honors, including the Harold Lamport Biomedical Research Prize at Harvard Medical School, the Francis D. Moore, MD Award from Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Harvard Medical School Class of 2006 Excellence in Teaching Recognition.

Dr. Paul has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in thoracic surgery. Dr. Paul is interested in the minimally invasive treatment of of both malignant and benign thoracic disorders.
