Wendy N. Moyal, M.D.
Wendy N. Moyal, M.D. is a Child, Adolescent, and Adult psychiatrist specializing in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in children and adults. She is available for diagnostic consultations, psychopharmacologic treatment and psychotherapy with children and adults, and has a special interest in developmental disorders, parenting, infancy and pre-school mental health. In addition, Dr. Moyal served as the interim Unit Chief of the Adolescent Inpatient Service and works with adolescents and young adults in her private practice.
Dr. Moyal received her B.S. degree from Cornell University and her M.D. degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was distinguished for her compassion, empathy and excellence in psychiatry with the Barbara S. Liskin Award. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell where she served as Resident Unit Chief of the outpatient department and coordinated the residency council. Dr. Moyal worked in the Women's Psychiatry Program at Cornell treating psychiatric disorders in pregnant and postpartum women and has continued collaborating with this program in her current faculty position.
Dr. Moyal trained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the New York Presbyterian Hospital combined program of Columbia and Cornell Universities. She served as a Chief Resident for this program and participated in research during her fellowship. Currently, in addition to her private practice, Dr. Moyal is sub-specializing in parenting, infancy and pre-school mental health as the Sackler Fellow in Infant Psychiatry. As part of this work, Dr. Moyal is the mental health consultant for private special education programs. She is certified in ADOS administration for evaluations of patients with developmental disabilities.
As an advocate for holistic patient care for patients and families, Dr. Moyal practices parent-child, interpersonal, psychodynamic and behavioral therapy in conjunction with psychopharmacologic management for her patients. Her diverse experiences working in community settings abroad have laid the foundation for her cultural sensitivity, openness to diverse lifestyle choices and treatment practices, while at the same time using the most up to date evidenced-based therapies for psychiatric disorders and psychological distress. Dr. Moyal has received Falcon and Shining Star awards for her patient-centered approach to care.
