Welcome to the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, led by Division Chief Dr. Laura Alonso. As part of a world-class academic medical center, the division's, driving mission is to provide top-quality patient care, to advance cutting edge research, and to train the next generation of physician and scientist leaders in endocrinology. Our faculty are knowledgeable across the range of endocrine and hormonal disorders, including thyroid disorders and cancer, pituitary and adrenal disorders, calcium and bone disease, gender affirming care, and male and female hormone imbalances.

In endocrinology, we provide the highest standard of care for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. We offer a multidisciplinary team approach for diabetes care with comprehensive case management and individualized treatment plans. Our expert team includes diabetologists, certified diabetes educators, registered dieticians, and an administrative staff who are experienced in intensive diabetes management, including insulin pump therapy. Our team has extensive experience with gestational diabetes and pregnancy in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. We also perform clinical research funded by federal agencies to advance knowledge in clinical medicine.

The Comprehensive Weight Control Center located at 1165 York Ave is directed by Louis J. Aronne, M.D., Professor of Clinical Medicine and the Sanford I. Weill Professor of Metabolic Research. Dr. Aronne and the staff of endocrinology, nutrition, and obesity medicine specialists have developed and provide a unique form of "weight-centric" patient care to achieve weight loss in complex cases, which has provided the clinical foundation for the field of Obesity Medicine.
