About Marcus DaSilva Goncalves, M.D., Ph.D.
I am an endocrinologist and laboratory scientist (https://www.goncalveslab.com/) interested in how the body stores and metabolizes nutrients. My lab uses animal models and human clinical trials to understand the effects of diet (e.g. ketogenic, fructose) and cancer on the metabolic pathways that control fat and muscle mass. My clinical practice is focused on metabolic diseases that are associated with high blood sugar (prediabetes, diabetes, fatty liver disease, high cholesterol) or the loss of skeletal muscle mass (low testosterone, cancer cachexia, etc).
