Juliann Paolicchi

Dr. Juliann Paolicchi is the Director of the Pediatric Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health/Weill Cornell Center. The Pediatric Comprehensive Epilepsy Center features the latest technology for the evaluation of epilepsy and offers the full range of therapies (medication, surgery, implanted devices, and alternative dietary approaches) ─ all in a clinical setting that is comfortable and attentive to the needs of children and their families.

Dr. Paolicchi received her BA in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She went on to complete her MA in Neuroscience and MD in Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, and her residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following residency, Dr. Paolicchi returned to Harvard to complete a Fellowship in Child Neurology at The Harvard Longwood Neurologic Training Program, Boston, Massachusetts, also serving as Chief Resident in Pediatric Neurology at Children's Hospital, Boston. She completed additional training as a Clinical Epilepsy/EEG Fellow at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Miami Children's Hospital. Prior to joining Weill Cornell, she directed the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at the Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio and the Pediatric Epilepsy Center and Pediatric Neurology Division at Vanderbilt University. She was also an investigator through the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center.

Dr. Paolicchi has exceptional experience in the care of patients with epilepsy ─ and their families ─ and serves at the national level for groups such as the American Epilepsy Society and the Epilepsy Foundation of America. She has been named a Professor of the Child Neurology Society and accepted as a member to a number of academic organizations including the Society of Pediatric Research and American Neurologic Association.

In addition to her clinical and work, Dr. Paolicchi conducts research on the genetics of epilepsy and is developing collaborative outcome-based research for the treatment of children with epilepsy through new pharmacologic therapies, epilepsy surgery, dietary treatments, and surgically implanted devices. She has participated in a wide variety of multi-institute clinical research trials, and has numerous publications in her field.
